Classes
The following is a description
of the massage classes we are offering. It is my hope, my mission, to demystify
touch and to make its pleasures and benefits something you can have, literally
at your fingertips. I believe that if you give a person a fish, they eat for a
day. Teach a person to fish and they eat for a lifetime. Teach a person to
massage a fish...okay, that's crazy. But you see where I'm going.
• Prenatal
Massage
Pregnancy and birth. This joyous process and event is often
accompanied by many inconveniences and pains for mom. The intention of this
class is to teach you, the partner or friend, simple techniques to help mom be
more comfortable and stress free, without exhausting and stressing you out. We
will address what feels good, what is helpful, as well as things that should be
avoided.
• Massage
Secrets
For years, women melting with joy in my massage chair have
expressed the same lament, "If only you could teach my_____ how to
do that." For years I've thought, "I can." Now I am.
In addition to learning techniques and a foundation
routine with which you can happily build upon for the rest of your lives, you
will gain an understanding of touch that distinguishes intimate, inspired, ecstasy
from mere, mindless manipulation. Though not specifically sexual (I refer you
to my friend Lou Pagent for that) how and where you apply what you learn about touch is up to you.
• Headache
Relief
The sources of headaches are many and varied. This class offers an
easy to learn sequence of acupressure point manipulations that have proven
quite effective in relieving tension based headaches (less effective for migraine
headaches).
• Trauma
Relief Technique
A zebra escaping an attack from a lion will find a safe place and
tremble until calm. Observing this, you might conclude the zebra was
frightened. Well, probably yes. More essentially, though, it was doing
something about it. It was shaking the adrenaline that it had just produced to
survive the attack...out of its muscles. It was not coping, chilling, or
maintaining. Likewise, it had no backache, headache, or attitude about the
event. Older and wiser, it then returned to the herd to relax and eat and
perhaps make little zebras.
This class is not about massage. It is a safe and easy to follow technique for
ridding the body of toxic levels of stored adrenaline. This is achieved by
gently exhausting and stretching the core muscles that hold the tension in
place. The result is the ability to produce healthful, natural trembling.
Intended for those recovering from trauma, those that attend or support trauma victims,
and those who suffer aches, pains, and stress by living, working, playing and
driving in and around the modern world.
Eighty percent of all illness is sourced in stress. Massage, mediatation and
this technique, could go a long way to helping you attain a healthful,
stress-free life.
